  1. Major Conservative Group Calls Bush 'Unelectable'

In what could be a potentially troubling barrier in Jeb Bush's presidential ambitions, an influential conservative group with a network of more than 7 million conservative activists has declared the former Florida governor "unelectable."

ForAmerica, which describes itself as "an online army" of conservatives led by longtime activist Brent Bozell, released a one minute video to its network Thursday morning that shows Bush praising former Secretary of State and potential presidential challenger Hillary Clinton.

The archived footage in the video dated September 10, 2013 is of Bush presenting Clinton an award for a lifetime of public service. At the awards ceremony, Bush thanked Clinton for her service, saying "we are united by a love of country and public service." The video then cuts to a black screen with red and white text saying the award was given to Clinton on the eve of the first anniversary of the Benghazi attacks. Conservatives blame Clinton for lack of security at the American compound where four Americans were killed.

While Bush is a top contender among the Republican donor class, grassroots activists within the Republican Party have expressed concern about a Bush presidency. Activists point to his support for immigration reform and for education standards called Common Core.

"As it stands, Jeb has absolutely no credibility to criticize (Clinton) because he has already anointed her as a great public servant; and he inexplicably did so almost a year to the day of the Benghazi massacre," Bozell said in a statement. "He will lose, and the public will have to suffer at least another four years of Obama's policies - and anything worse she has in store for America."

The National Constitution Center, a museum "dedicated to non-partisan constitutional education and debate" gave Clinton the award.

"I want to say a special thank you to Governor Bush," Clinton said in the video during the award ceremony.

"Hillary will use this event to blunt any criticism that Bush levels against her," the text says in the video. "Jeb Bush: unelectable."

"Major conservative group calls Jeb Bush 'unelectable.' Many comedians call 2016 'my year.'"

Poll: Majority of Americans want vaccines to be required as measles outbreak grows
    http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/23/health/vaccine-poll/index.html

A new CNN/ORC poll shows nearly 8 of 10 Americans believe parents should be required to vaccinate their healthy children against preventable diseases such as measles, mumps, rubella and polio. If the children are not vaccinated, most agree the child should not be allowed to attend public school or day care.

These results come as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is reporting a total of 154 cases of measles in the country, from January 1, 2015 to February 20, 2015. That's an additional 13 cases in the last week.

The poll, conducted February 12-15, 2015, found 78% of the respondents believe parents should be required to vaccinate their child against preventable diseases if the child is healthy; only 22% disagree. Older Americans are most supportive of the required vaccinations (84% of those 50+ versus 72% of those under 50), and women express more support than men (81% to 75%). Seventy percent of parents with children under age 18 also agree with the requirement.

  4. Jeb is the smart Bush. Which means he is merely dull instead of comatose.

But the main problem for him with the rabid right is that he has a small kernel of rational, compassionate thinking.

Study Puts Blame on Anti-Vaxxers for Disneyland Measles Outbreak
    http://timesofsandiego.com/tech/201...d-measles-outbreak/?google_editors_picks=true

The anti-vaccination movement is likely to blame for the recent measles outbreak linked to Disneyland, according to research published Monday by the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics publication.

“The ongoing measles outbreak linked to the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, shines a glaring spotlight on our nation’s growing anti- vaccination movement and the prevalence of vaccination-hesitant parents,” the scientists wrote in the research paper.

Some people in this forum claim that lack of families supporting vaccines are all associated with religious Republicans who granted religious exemptions to families to not be vaccinated. Nothing could be further from the truth... let's take a look at today's news from North Carolina about state senators working to eliminate the absurd religious vaccination exemption (which was originally voted into place by a Democratic legislature).

Senators target religious exemption for vaccines
    http://www.wral.com/senators-target-religious-exemption-for-vaccines/14525570/

A bill filed Thursday by three senators would repeal the state’s religious exemption for vaccines.

Senate Bill 346, sponsored by Sens. Jeff Tarte R-Mecklenburg, Tamara Barringer, R-Wake, and Terry Van Duyn, D-Buncombe, would also add influenza B and polio to the list of required vaccinations for school enrollment, as well as others recommended by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices, with the exception of the HPV vaccine.

Under current state law, a parent or guardian of a child can exempt that child from school immunization requirements simply by submitting “a written statement of the bona fide religious beliefs and opposition to the immunization requirements.” Adults can also exempt themselves from required immunizations for colleges and universities.

Under the legislation, no religious exemption would be allowed, although medical exemptions would still be permitted with a doctor’s signature.

    Scataphagos and BSAM like this.

  9. Yeah, good point, the small kernel of rational thinking is often overwhelmed by his devout delusionism - I mean Catholicism. Praise the lord and let the comatose vegetables remain living Catholics.
