How to Cause a Measles Epidemic in 5 Easy Steps. There's been a lot written about the measles outbreak and anti-vaccine parents. Fact is, the current situation is a direct and predictable result of many social/political trends that have emerged in America over the last generation. Having recently learned that a good way to get "clicks" on the Internet is to create lists, I am sharing five easy steps to take if you want to create an epidemic just like this. Raise a generation ignorant about science Allow belief (religious or otherwise) to rule the day Let distrust of government override good judgment Put our faith in quacks and nudniks who share our world views Value personal liberty at the expense of public health http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-paul-marantz/cause-measles-epidemic_b_6624230.html
So we're told that vaccines are completely safe and then we find that pharma companies have been inoculated against lawsuits to prevent people from suing when the vaccinations go bad and harm someone. Now we're told that if everyone will get the vaccine, it will 'eradicate' the disease from society, even though the vaccine doesn't keep all the vaccinated from getting the disease. How about a few third world death statistics woven in to help the vaccinators case? Hey, if people are stupid enough to buy this malarkey, go ahead and pump your arms and butts full of whatever the gov't puts in their syringes. It normally follows that when people are dumb enough to accept the above premises, they're also the tyrannical type who want to send in the storm troopers to force it on everyone else, too. Those are two of the lowest common denominators of mankind's base characteristics and they always seem to go hand in hand. Read the first two paragraphs I wrote again, and then tell yourself, 'i will not be a science denier like those anti vax people'. Say it over and over again until it makes you feel superior. LOL The left has turned the word science into a laugh line and now they're just going to have to live with it. Tough.
"At the end of the day, the issue here is one of freedom, and freedom is the freedom to choose – even if we make a bad choice. The argument that I must vaccinate my children for the good of the community is not only scientifically questionable, it is an unethical precept. It is the argument all dictators and totalitarians have used.“Comrade, you must work tirelessly for the good of the collective. You must give up your money and property for the good of the collective, and now … you must allow us to inject your children with what we deem is good for the collective.” If American’s don’t stand up against this, then we are lost. Because we have lost ownership of ourselves. Our bodies are no longer solely ours – we and our children are able to be commandeered for the “greater good.”" --zerohedge.com
Like not burning down your neighbor's house. Or feeding rat poison to your children. Or mowing down pedestrians with your car. Idiot.
what a douchey response. you are obviously both arguing at the intersection of core constitutional and international human rights. There are no easy answers. Balancing is required. What if a vaccine kills 1 in 10 but stops aids, should the govt mandate it? where do you draw the line between govt action and human and parental rights. This is the stuff supreme court cases are made of. for you to cite a few counter examples and act like the other guy is an idiot for caring about his constitutional rights... manifests what a true troll you are.
The vaccine debate is a touchstone for many core conservative issues - personal freedom, health, ownership of the body (the individual or Government). Great arguments can be made for any Communist/Fascist scheme where Government has total control. Precime is a great idea too. Criminalize thought. Think of the lives we could save!! When the Government has the power of law to force us to injest xyz, we no longer own our God Given bodies. The State does. If you believe in that, and don't see the dangers rife in that, you don't believe in Freedom or individual rights.
Whether government mandates or not, the fact is , vaccination saves infant lives, protects communities and the population at large. That's what matters. Resentment of government is no reason to not vaccinate.
Brian Williams says he has personally vaccinated over 100 children and not one of them has ever gotten a serious disease.
83% Say Measles Vaccine Is Safe for Healthy Children No Partisan Differences in Views of Vaccine Safety http://www.people-press.org/2015/02/09/83-percent-say-measles-vaccine-is-safe-for-healthy-children/ An 83% majority of the public says vaccines for diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) are safe for healthy children, while about one-in-ten (9%) think such vaccines are not safe. An additional 7% volunteer that they don’t know. Majorities across virtually every demographic and partisan group view the vaccines as safe. However, there are some differences in attitudes, with less educated people and younger adults more likely to say they are not safe. The new national survey by the Pew Research Center, conducted Feb. 5-8 among 1,003 adults, finds Republicans (89%) and Democrats (87%) generally agree that such vaccines are safe for children who are healthy. Roughly nine-in-ten college graduates (92%) see vaccines for MMR as safe for healthy children. This view is somewhat less widespread among those with some college experience (85%) or a high school degree or less (77%). Three-quarters or more in every age group say vaccines for MMR are safe. However, among adults 50 and older, 90% express this view, compared with 77% of adults 18-29 and 81% of those 30-49. (More at above url)
