Unnecessarily complex/conspiratorial explanation. The reason is that all those arms will "have to" be replaced, which means enormous sales and profits to our own shareholding oligarchs, and so big donations to their agents aka politicians.

 

humanists are equally outraged at Russian arms oligarchs turning a dime on human suffering, worse even when they start an unprovoked invasion to line their pockets. There's a moral edge to turning a dime using it on defense.

 

I guess Biden recently declared WWIII by his own logic.
