I was once of member of his brother's once renegade trading organization. At the time it was co headed by a man known as eddie to his top regional lieutenants. Eddies saying in the mid 90s was was: charts - every ship at the bottom of the sea has charts.

We were encouraged to watch our screens and search for patterns in the red and green codes we saw flashing. Patterns which could and did lead informational arbitrage opportunities. Some of the members were able to exploit the patterns for personal gain. Which was encouraged.

It is my undertanding Bob later joined his brother to expand the reach of the organization. Once Bob came into the headquarters of a competing organization... and I met the man.

  3. So is this guy just a glorified salesman or is the place legit?

Kind of looks like a joke from the responses i'm getting.

  4. LOL...geez, 8 years = about 3.5 posts per day. ET has actually worked like a trading blog as well. Posting the journals since 2001, etc. Answering a zillion questions, both on board and on PM. This has served well as a conduit for my columns in Stocks and Commodities as well....can't believe that's been almost a decade as well.

I do try to keep things as light as possible here...there is enough negatism around already...no need for hostility. Most traders love it at Bright Trading, a few haven't had a good experience (for whatever reasons).... Bill Cosby said something along this line: "No guarantee for success, but a guarantee for failure, is trying to please everyone" (sorry Bill if I screwed that up).

In any event, thanks for the thread... and thanks for the PM's referring to this thread.

    Trade well,

    Don

Actually you got it backwards... Bob Bright is a legend in the trading world... the guy is a math genius and started out as a card counter in the 70's in the Vegas casinos... once he got blacklisted on the Griffin Book (which is where all successful blackjack card counters end up) he took his millions and headed to the floor of the CBOT and turned his millions into tens of millions in the options markets.

Bob Bright and Eddie Franco started Bright Trading together in the early 80's but today I believe Eddie is no longer there and its basically a family run business. Back in the day when there was a Pacific Exchange, most of the traders who left the floor left for their Westwood Office... that office was filled with nothing but former floor guys.

They're not the cheapest place to trade, but as far as prop shops go, they're probably one of the best capitalized and most ethical around... if you're worried about whether or not you're prop shop is going to go out of business, not honor your redemption requests, or not return your capital contribution... then Bright Trading is for you... If you're looking for the cheapest commissions possible and a gazillion to 1 overnight leverage... Bright Trading is not for you.

Now ET is full of not just Bright haters... but trader haters in general... so don't listen to them... make up your own mind... next time you're in Vegas go to their office and have a look around... they have a pretty impressive two story building which they own outright... and they have tons of traders there who have traded with them for 10+ years... you don't find that very often.

As to the original question of the original poster... Don Bright is Bob's brother and handles most of the marketing and communication with their traders. He's also a pretty good trader himself... although not legendary like Bob. He also talks a lot more than Bob :)

  6. Someone uses his pseudonym on ET sure enough.

But everyone knows 'DB' is a semi-retired porn actor. Currently he spends most of his time chasing real acting gigs - you may have seen him in a couple of music videos here and there. But I heard he still dips his 'toe' in the blue screen from time to time, ostensibly to keep from getting rusty, as they say. He's also spotted in Las Vegas quite a bit ...

  7. This is standard ET. Captain Jack should be ET's theme song.

  10. I have to agree, and I've never disputed that my (10 year senior) brother Bob is the "older and much smarter" brother...and much more of a legend, LOL.

I like to say that a lot has rubbed off over the last few decades, LOL.
