Forex works as well as any other instrument, just more people use it incorrectly with faster account evaporation so it gets more headlines, mostly bad, I have access to HFT Forex, now that's spectacular.
How do we define success ? It is subjective than objective. For a standard definition we may say a minimal profit equivalent to bank loan interest is a decent successful trading. Can I ask you a question? How many of our colleagues or neighbours or friends or relatives have retired from day job just because they have become successful traders? Almost none, if not zero, right? It means the speculation that 98% of the trades are not making money may be true.

Who’d have thought that math proficiency is needed in finance and trading? Anyone want to break it to him about Black-Scholes-Merton, Stochastic Calc, Probability, bond math (including duration formula), and the Greeks? Also, those stocks you’re trading? Without doing the math, you’re gambling. To trade technically you’ll need to understand things like moving averages and resistance levels. As a longer-term investor: understand mean reversion, be able to read a financial statement, and even create your own company model. You might do better on the slot machines.

But working with a stock combo like SPY,SSO[2x],QQQ QLD[2x] could be very profitable; 2nd grade math may help LOL. 4th grade math, dont need that much, its not rocket science . If a badly run bank like C-citgroup can make money in 4x,[aka forex] must be some good profit in it. Find something you love like candlecharts....
