People have it backwards. The reasons and the news is the bogus part, that can't be defined and leaves you guessing. People actually buying and selling is an objective thing that can be measured and shows up on a chart. If you're just asking for curiosity reasons, than ignore my post.
Safe haven, investors thinking if the rest of the market crashes, BRK.A will crash the least. Plus stock buy backs also helps.
Buffet has been buying his own shares for a while. I remembered he said he could not find any company to buy so he just buys his own shares. Sort of buy back. Maybe that is why. I have the same question like yours and still wondering as well.
Well yeah, but that's "last quarter", and AAPL and BRKA and others all did very well last quarter, in line with your post. But what about THIS quarter?
funds are flowing from tech stocks to value stocks and cyclicals. brk/a has a massive private company portfolio which earns as well. railroads, housing sales are doing really well. Brk/a owns the one of the largest railroads and owns the largest real estate broker. They also own tons of car dealerships.
Berkshire doesn’t own only publicly traded companies like AAPL, but it is also a company on its own, holding many private businesses/companies that in total may be worth more than its AAPL stake. BRK market cap is $750B. What should be any company’s market cap if it didn’t own anything else beside 100% AAPL worth $150B?
