Thats what i was thinking, and until something else comes out about this you must assume the left is just going hyperbolic again. Even if it did depict a lynching, 99,99% of whites would disagree with that so what exactly is the priviledge dbgarland is referring too?
I think he is trying to say that whites have the privilege of not seeing halloween displays depicting them being hanged. Like that means anything. There are lots of things whites can't do because they're white. Doesn't make it "black privilege". db just up to his usual forum spamming. That's what being online 18 hours of the day does to you.
As suspected, this had nothing to do with a lynching and the guy who set it up is an asian immigrant, so much for white priviledge. Epic fail on dbgarland's part. A lot of people were outraged about the imagery of the display. Tou Vue, the man who set up the display, said that “lynching wasn’t even on my mind when we put this up. It was the furthest thing from my mind.” He spoke with neighbors and understood their concerns. Vue apologized and took the display down. No, there just was no point at all in your post to miss. At least nothing worth the time we've wasted on it thus far.
I wanted to go back to the guy's article on why life would be so terribly difficult for his black son. He mentioned how deflating it was for his wife to hear someone speculate that she got into a prestigious college on affirmative action. Did he stop to wonder how deflating it was for the kid with better credentials who didn't get in? He never addressed the obvious question, which is did she actually benefit from affirmative action? If she did, as seems likely, then it seems beyond entitled to expect people to pretend not to notice. It's not good enough that they get undeserved preferences. Now we're supposed to pretend they earned them as well? Sheesh. Look where that got us with Obama and Michelle.
I'll never forget Colin Powell addressing the republican convention and asking the crowd "is there really anything wrong with giving a few black kids a job?" It gave me great pleasure that the crowd gave him a hearty round of boos. A guy like him never stopping to think that when you give a few black kids a job because they're black, some white kids are told to go to hell because they're white. And while I'm on Colin Powell, I'll add that it was he that advised GWB that "if you break it, you bought it" with Iraq. Meaning we had to stay there and waste trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives for nothing.
