White Monday?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by shortie, Oct 10, 2008.

  1. Dow futures showing larger than 500 point decline for Monday? Is that right?

  2. Have they sold yet.??

I'm hearing people are scared to death, but some people of some money, and famous, are just frozen with fear.

If that's the case, and we rally from here, we just come back and test these lows later.

  3. Globex is closed on Saturday. Next trading session opens around 8:15pm Central time tomorrow, Sunday Oct 26. Where do you see the "larger than 500 point decline"?

And it's not Friday's close numbers, because that was 312. It could be close of futures PRE friday open, perhaps.

  8. The spy and dia and qqqq were are all flat in Ah. This means there is no selloff awaiting sunday unless things change between 8: PM friday and sunday.

The "value" (current or closing price) is 8160-something. If there were a 500-point drop over the weekend, the value would obviously be below 8000.

Maybe it's the futures close (after cash market's close) on Friday like someone suggested. It may even be pre-market futures from Friday morning.

Thats where the $10 Dow Future closed on Friday afternoon on Globex. The Future closes at 3.15pm CST, 15 minutes after the cash markets. The -513 reflects the change from the Thursday night settlement, just on the Futures contract.

Obviously the selloff on the cash close continued into the futures market close. This is not an indication that the DOW is expected to drop another 500 on Monday (although of course it might !)
