New to Stocks but I've traded Forex. In Forex there are days when certain types of news announcements can be counted on to affect the market drastically. So much so that I would make sure I was out of the market while the news hit. Do stocks have those types of announcement days, and if, what types of announcements are they? In stocks I'll be trading the Daily timeframe, holding anywhere from days to months. Just fyi in case that's pertinent info.
Non Farm Payroll is typically one that is followed closely (1st Friday of every month). Fed meetings are another one to keep on your radar. http://www.bloomberg.com/markets/economic-calendar/
Use a good economic calendar resource, like forex factory, which lists upcoming events and the degree of impact it may have on the overall market http://www.forexfactory.com/
Thanks guys but I was asking about the news events that affect Stock prices, not Forex. I originally posted this in the Stocks forum but it got moved here.
The news calendars have more than just a forex effect, regardless of what page it is posted. Look at some of the past events and compare it to some historical prices to see what type of impact they may/or may not have.
