Keep in mind that any old machine can receive and process tick data for over one thousand of the most liquid stock symbols with very little CPU overhead. I do, but I don't use any charts. Charts are the killer of performance. I once wrote an experimental charting library that would display every tick, but it used all kinds of tricks to make sure it could keep up (only using the built-in graphics on a very old i7 laptop) without any impact on the running systems. Commercial trading apps are generally amazingly slow, charting especially. For most people running commercial apps, needing charting of tick data, their money would be better spent on a high-end graphics card (I've not actually tried this). All just my opinion.
