This CBOE futures is a bit of a joke, they only use 1 exchange price to settle the contract. Manipulating the expiration will be so easy. At least the CME will use an average of many exchanges
at times, someone with deep pocket might 'manipulate' the (small) market to influence the settlement price for whatever reason.
https://coinmarketcap.com/exchanges/volume/24-hour/ Gemini is the 15th largest exchange and did $181m in BTC/USD in last 24 hours.
tbf Gemini has increasingly had issues with downtime since btc crossed 10k. They used to be higher up on that list. There was 1 day a couple of weeks ago, where literally 0 volume was coming from them.
If you are exposed to the futures going into a cash settlement with an illiquid product like this you have big ones. The opportunity for institutional desks to move this around into settle is huge.
