That setting will delay your orders around 3-7 sec. on average.

  2. The delay is much less than that on the sim account. I don't scalp or trade the news. I'm a swing trader so I think the difference on the positions will be acceptable for my trading.

I thought to give a review here on two of the bridge tools mentioned earlier in this thread. The test has been conducted during those weeks and i believe to have enough data to draw meaningful conclusions. I have only explored smtp interface. During the Test i have used an high end server with around 1 ms latency from ts server (including data server ) and arond 2 ms from IB server. I have used for both software ib gateway.

With Ninja i had massive memory leaks that apparently has been solved in the last version just released. 8.0.7 Executions and inherent latency has been prooved to be good although the slippage occured compared to Ts have been bigger to a level that the advantage of better commissions does not cover the cost of greater slippage. I got an average of 1 more tick of slippage at Ib comparing to ts every three contracts executed. Should be noted that setting used was "send order as is" so once the signal was created the order was immediately executed.

Tb: TB is way slower than Ninja in the executions. We are talking of few seconds here. The advabtage of TB over Ninja is that is way more stable than Ninja and allow the execution of some c2 strategies (excluding options) although are not infrequent problems for different reasons.

Conclusions: bridge tools add further complexity and add more risk because we rely on more software which has shown to be not as reliable as expected. Moreover through bridge software we will likely suffer more cost in term of slippages (that is not covered by better commissions plan) to an extent that is not a savvy decision.
I will personally suggest to use bridge tools only if absolutely necessary for the requirement of the trader (such as new markets otherwise not available) and only for slow strategies. (Certainly not for intraday trading)

  5. At that price it's priced comparable to Multicharts (if you buy on sale or pay monthly). Seems crazy to pay that for an unproven product versus one that's been around a long time.
