here's the rub, as they say: $18 hour average, reference please? please post a website reference that substantiates that! gas, diesel, fuel oil up over 400% in same time.... school, local, county, state and personal taxes up substantially (of course all at various percentage increases, so no one number could possibly cover them all) under the guise and notion of having lowered Federal employment taxes, whilest giving away hundreds of millions of tax rebates only to the wealthy.... so, what was your point about how much good this administration (of President Cheney and Vice President Bush) have done for the American people?
She's the ONLY original cabinet member of Bush's presidency. Everyone else has either retired, been canned, or indicted. Absolutely amazing.
In May of '98 they expanded production to the X5. Interesting to note, BMW purchases inputs for their production from 33 local South Carolina suppliers. Also, the employment multiplier is 3.9 Good stuff!
It's true that the Bush Administration has had a political agenda when it comes to their economic policy. No doubt about it. I met a guy once whose son used to be the roommate of a guy that the Bush Administration "recruited" to become one of the economic advisors to the Administration. He was an MIT/Harvard guy and took a sabbatical from his professorship to help the Bush Administration formulate sound economic policy. He had 23 of the brightest economic minds working below him, but after 1.5 years he gave up and returned to Harvard. He said that he ( and his team ) simply got tired of making recommendations that never were put into action. More often than not, they were told that "their" policies did not "fit" with the Administration's agenda. And people wonder why guys like Larry Summers and Colin Powell have left this Administration . . .
The thread is NOT about quality of life ect. The thread is about domestic employment. If you don't know what the hourly wage is or more so where to access the data (http://www.bls.gov/data/home.htm) then you probably shouldn't be posting on the Economics forum.

its amazing how blind we all choose to be.... a number of traders on these threads support these failed policies that have destroyed so much of the US way of life, as if it were a personal affront to them. a number of traders on these threads keep suggesting there is and has been something positive about what has been accomplished over the last 8 year that even comes close to outweighing the damage that has been done all across this country and to the economy... and then there are those who do not site outside verifiable references for their claims. its not a matter of whether I knew where to get that data is a matter of making your words or claims more substantive and verifiable beyond just, well, your words.... its really pitiful that while the actual numeric number has increased (as you cited, from < $18 hr to $18 hr or above), its that those dollars are so much more devalued during this same 8 year time period that the actual wage being cited has decreased even from the quoted $14 hourly in 2000. perhaps understanding the entire premise of the statement and not just some minor facet that is chosen to support a predetermined bias is the qualifier, and whether or not one should be posting or participating on these threads.... otherwise, perhaps one needs to find other B School grads worthy of their lofty intelligence or lack there of.....
