You guys clearly have never been to Singapore. English is the official language. In the three years I spent there, I couldn't understand the locals and their "English" once. They would have to talk to me like I'm a baby for me to understand, and even then it was barely comprehensible. They call it "Singlish" for a reason.

one night I had a slight CC problem, got hold of a nice lady in a call center in Bombay, couldn't understand most of what she said.. so I turned on my Golden Radio DJ voice and said " OK, English Lesson # 1, welcome to class! When you speak, OPEN YOUR MOUTH!" she did..and sounded 1000% better in seconds.
