the potential of blockchain is as great as ever. whether or not it's the future remains to be seen. i still believe blockchain investments deserve a place in a diversified long-term investment portfolio. most coins are yielding 5-20% apr which i keep compounding. *remind me of this post in 5 years
The underlying concepts are interesting and worth pursuing. But we must realize and respect that we are a decade away from any truly useful services and goods that implement those concepts and even multiple decades away from broad-based adoption. There is so much virtue signaling going on and a few slick snake oil salesmen take full advantage of the naivete of the public to make a quick buck off completely unproven and insecure products that expose the user to huge and ill-understood risks.

But the majority like me gloat and enjoy the demise of those gunslingers and get-rich-quick folks because we have said for a long time "told ya so" but we were laughed at during the last run to the moon that was entirely fueled by hot air. Buffet is again the guy laughing at the end. He invested in railways and infrastructure and waited for top tech shares to be cheaper and now invests in stable and mature tech that most likely fully recovers sooner than any other corporation.
Please remind us, where are 5-20% to be had per annum again right now? I would like to remind my buddies at fidelity and other firms so they can make a killing for all those grannies and grandpas who put their savings into mutual funds and rely on stable returns. I will also make a prediction where YOU will be in 5 years: you will have moved on from a total loss in your crypto adventures and you will again have fully signed up for the next shit show that some slick salesperson convinced you on Youtube to allocate your funds to. A new sucker is borne every day but some stay suckers throughout their entire life.

Many more went-broke-quick...so what? Its the same with everything. Most traders fail, most small businesses fail.
