By far the best indicator of bankruptcy risk... Is the price level of a company's bonds... And Ford bonds are 10-20% higher today than 6 months ago.
"Performance, Handling, and Styling".... too bad Ford gets owned in the reliability and price depreciation categories.
sorry to rant but i have to - and not even about ford but gm again. just listened to wagoner speak at the auto show. fuck that guy is an asshole. they are talking about what a good year 2006 was . how good 2007 will be. backslapping. they will lose 10 billion in 2006 by my numbers. guy is talking like there is no problem and no change in strategy... how they shaved 9 billion off operating costs???so they will only lose 10 billion in 2006 instead of 19 billion. fuck - bonuses all around. guy must have said "to be perfectly honest" 10 times in his interview of 6 minutes which means one thing and one thing only to me- he is lying his ass off.

My Renault "bit the dust" this week. Guess what I bought a 1998 Ford Escort 1400 from a mechanic friend 2 days ago. Seems to go well. The hatch door did refuse to clip shut, but after WD-40 and a lot of slamming it finally did. Price £500 - not bad I think. I hope the spares hold up even if the mother company is so badly run.
Yeah, record losses and yet today they say they will probably still give out Bonus's to management. Screw Ford Hope they go Bankrupt Junk mostly anyway!
Guess where the bonus money comes from? Ford closing 7 daycare centers: http://www.spyfhotos.autoblog.com/2007/01/26/sorry-baby-ford-closing-seven-day-care-centers/
