  1. No one called it a plague so maybe you are just overreacting but if you feel it is no big deal go walk around in London with 30 and stop by a hospital and the ICU ward....

There acting and the 20years old are scared, likely its a plague and yes it's killed maybe 5 before 30 but stastically nothing.

Mate works for the NHS I get updates twice daily, not that bad currently, mainly media hype, there always full and maxed out and struggling there massively under funded especially in normal flu season, not worse than that currently, but it's about to get much much worse.

Put loads of Temporary hospitals up to hande the surge of the next 3 - 4 weeks.

Happens all the time on the highways. A lot of those people don't even make it to the hospital. 3700 a day is the rate. I don't see anyone suggesting we bring the economy to screeching halt because of that.

Look no further than Obama's Chicago if you want to see a high death rate. In Baltimore, even with all this crap going on, the murder rate is up. What are the democrats who run that city doing about it?

By the way, what is the rate of people who have tested positive in the world. It now stands at approximately 1 in 15000. So 1 person tests positive, another 14999 have not and even for the 1 guy who tests positive the overwhelming chances are that he will not die.

    Get your facts straight man.

Ok whatever. But this thread has 15 pages, and the only person here who has even hinted at the bigger picture is Ocho and that's this... our economy is fragile as F.

Mortality rate can be 4% or .04%. Like I said, its like the airline stock of old... what they lose on RASM, they make up in volume.

Our economy is going to take a HUGE hit. That's a fact. 2000 on the S&P is a given. This shit is not going away anytime soon.

You guys can bicker all day long over how many people will die etc... I have no idea, I only see what's in front of me. America is just getting started. Its gonna hit small towns across the South very soon. No hospitals, no respirators... people will die. Maybe 99.09% of folks will live... but ya'll gotta see what this is going to do to our economy. Small businesses are gonna go tits up. The $2.3T will be so wrapped up in bureaucratic paperwork that the only folks that'll see any of it will be the likes of the S&P 100.

Ya'll will see, but stay healthy.
    Tougher than the rest....

one of my major themes has been that you can't just look at what the doctors are telling us about hospital beds and social distancing models.

To be humane and intelligent we must factor in the risk of industry shutdowns, or transportation system collapse or risk of hyperinflation.

What good would it be to have hospital beds if the hospitals can't get the medicine and food they need?

  6. If we just do lockdown until end of April or so, I think the government can support the small businesses that suffered the most.

i think Mardi Gras, Spring Break and the density of NYC is where this thing really exploded and will get us to 200,000 cases due to simple exponential extrapolating. If only half of those need hospitalization that is the big crush. We don't care about the hundreds of thousands of asymptomatic people as long as they stay home and stop spreading it.

Shoot, I could have had it for past 2 weeks with no symptoms BUT I will never be responsible for having spread it to 100 more in a chain because I followed the rules.

Stay the fuck home for 2-3 more weeks and let's see where we are at. Don't get tested if you don't feel any symptoms but act like you could have it in washing hands and distancing.

I still have been playing hoops with two friends who have also been isolated and we are using hand sanitizer and washing our hands like crazy and not touching our faces at all. Easy to do with 3 people, really hard with 300 packed in one large open place and touching everything.
