When to throw in the towel as a trader?

Discussion in 'Professional Trading' started by Mr Kamikaze, May 25, 2005.

  1. I go to the Gym five days a week and train for 1 hour with a combination of weight lifting and aerobics (on trading days, usually) I find this keeps me more nimble minded and when I train, I can feel the endorphins kick in when I reach a certain level, usually after the weight training when I am on the cross-trainer. I wonder if traders gamble less if they get their adrenalin and endorphins through training at the gym instead of through trading?

Part of my trading plan is to excercise approxiametly 3 hours a day. Excercise kills the stress, keeps my mind in tip top shape, releases endorphins and its gonna help turn my 1 pack back to the 8 pack I used to have.

I'm even moving to the west coast so I can live a more active life.

In conclusion, I think excercising is very important and affects all aspects of life positively.

  4. Yeah ozzy,

3 hours is good. I would burn out though...When I was younger I could do it. I am too busy now....writing in here :) and testing new systems...

Hey but at least I schlep myself to the gym for one hour a day! (weekends I drink like a fish!...not really a half a beer knocks me out now :))

IMO it is must reading for every trader.

Moutain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, snow boarding, running, hiking. I'm gonna go nutz on the West Coast.

But I hear where your coming from, the older you get the harder it is to dedicate the time. I'm getting older myself and I realize I have to work even harder than before to stay fit.

mmmm Beer, still like the beer though. Everything in moderation (except trading).

  10. Looks interesting, just popped it in my cart, thx. I've always found you can learn alot more about trading from books that aren't about trading.
