When it comes to crime, Democrats are in danger of being mugged by reality

Getting back on topic — the progressives on the Durham City Council were mugged by reality in the recent 2021 candidate. They lost all the seats up for election — without exception — including the mayors office. The Durham City council now has a 4-3 majority of Democrats who do not support defunding the police.

The recent local city election in Durham was all about the need to decrease crime and hire & fund more police officers. It was pretty much the sole issue.

I expect this local Durham election in the off-cycle year of 2021 is just a preview of other city elections across the U.S. in 2022 where officeholders who supported “Defund the “Police” will be ejected from office in an environment of rising crime and replaced by candidates who support the police. You can also take a look at the recent NYC election mayoral for another example of this.

No,you can't.He won because the 2 anti stop and frisk progressive candidates split the progressive anti police brutality vote allowing him to win by .08 %

If Wiley or Garcia would have dropped out as many were calling for because they knew they would split the anti police brutality vote the other would have won easily.

So it looks like the Democrats in NYC were mugged by reality. So tell us the reality about the end result - Who is the mayor.

The reality once again is the "defund the Police" candidates lost. The support the police Democratic candidate is in office. Are you trying to claim that a large number of people who supported his views did not vote for him to place him into office?

    In the general election?

You are aware the Democratic primary has a much smaller number of voters than the general election in NYC.

Trump's election proved that you can't rely on voters to make wise decisions.
