    You quoted my post but failed to include the most important part of the post. Let's provide it again so you and others can mull it over.

    =============

    But let me reiterate -- the budget for a police department, school system or any other government entity consists of the budgeted money from all sources.

    Note that police departments (and other entities) can turn down federal money. For example Durham turned down money for the federal 287(g) program used to deport illegal immigrants. So the local governments do have a choice in determining whether to use local, state or federal funds to finance operations of many government entities run by local governments. The city can effectively defund the police by rejecting the federal grants as well -- they don't need to defund by only limiting local money.

    ===========

    I will note that if Durham had accepted the federal 287(g) program grant in 2021 their overall police budget would have increased rather than decreased. Their rejection of this grant effectively defunded the Durham police and reduced their budget for 2021/22.

    Actually I included the most important and only relavant part.For the last 10 years or so The City of Durham gave the Durham PD more money than the previous year.The federal government giving a smaller grant than the prior year is not defunding the police.

    So you have nothing to say about another example of obvious disaster police defunding in North Carolina. Do you doubt in any way that Asheville defunded its police and the results were a complete fiasco.

    Just watching you repeatedly change the goal post is tiring.As I have previously posted in response to your bloomberg post the departments that had funding increased also have high violent crime.

    Once again you are moving the goal posts. Can you answer a simple question. I provided a clear example of defunding the police in a city and the results. Are you trying to claim that defunding the police in Asheville did not directly lead to increased crime in the city? Are you trying to claim that the progressive Democratic city council in Asheville did not get mugged by the reality of the consequences of their actions? This after all is what this thread is about.

    Since you enjoy re-directing the topic so much... I will indulge you as you once again as you move the goal posts. So tell us the how the percentage increase in crime in cities that defunded police compared to cities that did not defund the police. While crime went up in nearly all cities -- including violent crime -- it went up the most in cities that defunded the police. Tell us who things are going in Minneapolis.

    And I provided examples of cities with increased funding and the same results.

    So you are just pointing out a couple cities had higher violent crime which did not defund the police. You provided no evidence whatsover that their higher crime rate approached the much higher levels of cities that did defund the police. So basically you have not citation to back up your claims that defunding the police makes no difference in crime. Provide a citation -- otherwise you are just pushing crap.

    And don't confuse all the cities that were forced to increase police budgets in 2021 as they became complete criminal cesspools due to their previous defunding in 2020 -- as examples of "increased funding". These cities are just trying to fix the consequences of their progressive city councils which got mugged by reality.

    Exactly.Glad we are in agreement that cities that increased funding also have increased crime.

    Cities that defunded the police have much greater increased crime. You are failing to address your claim -- but nearly sticking to repeating your narrative like a parrot.

    I get it that your claim is meaningless and your can't support your assertion whatsover that defunding the police does not lead to significantly higher crime.

    Take a look at Asheville, North Carolina where defunding the police turned a highly-desirable idyllic mountain haven into a crime cesspool ranked in the bottom 10% of desirable places to live in the matter of months.
