  1. divident.com will give you statistics on how many days it takes stocks to recover the ex-div adjustment. (it is a paid service and I have no affiliation with them). Screen Shot 2020-06-13 at 10.23.23 PM.png

Then companies should just pay out 100% dividends if their long term market value doesn't change.

IBM is in a long term uptrend;say $30/1987 to $121/2020. But since it looks like it made a double top @$200+l in 2011-2012 .I would keep looking if I were you; but give it time it may hit $50...…………………………………………………………………………………………………….. My charts show a ibm dividend of $1.63 x date may 7,2020 ]I allow 30 days for payment /seldom takes that long;100shares on may,2020 IBM, dividend =$163.00

  4. This seems like a good tool and seems it's getting me closer to my answers but I haven't had a chance to explore it yet.

If you use this site, can you please explain how this data helps with your decisions? why and how (example please) does this data shape your buying or selling decisions?

I am still stuck on "what is the point of dividend if stock price goes down by same amount".

    Thanks,

Dividend is the distribution of a portion of the earnings of a company which is paid to the particular class of the shareholders. Dividend paid will include the payments which are made by the companies which are publicly-listed in the form of the reward to the investors for putting their money in the company.
