When IB goes public, say bye bye to low rates

  1. This makes me feel better. I have worked at private and public companies, and there is a difference in operating values and philosophies between them. When you are concerned with what short-term-oriented investors are thinking, you make different decisions. It's really hard to create a long-term vision that won't pay dividends for many years when Wall Street only cares about whether you'll exceed this quarter's earning estimates. In the public company, we were handcuffed by this and made decisions that we knew were not good for the long-term, but they were necessary to keep shareholders happy.
