Wow, seems to me if you are a recruiter with no job in this economic environment, then the winter is going to be very long and cold one for you. Probably be a long time before recruiters find a need int he economy. Hopefully they exercised those GOOG options when the stock was at 750 and put the proceeds in TLT.

  3. Do you think GOOG can ever get back to its all time high ?

Collins Stewart discusses first ever lay-off of full-time employees at Google; says not a major incremental negative development for the Street (300.97 ) : Collins Stewart notes that yesterday afternoon GOOG announced, which as far as they can track, the first ever lay-off of full-time employees at Google (excluding acquisition related job eliminations). They view this move as realignment of work force by Google due to materially lower growth outlook in 2009. They say the deceleration in growth at Google is no longer a surprise as Google's growth outlook has weakened materially in last 3 quarters. Firm notes the this kind of move was speculated by Street for quite some time as Google's hiring slowed down and Street est for '09 started coming down materially since Q2-08. The stock has been down nearly 60% since Jan '08 as well to reflect the slowing growth.

  5. Technically, they have not hired anyone except the highest end professionals for years. They have been staffing via temps, part timers & contractors. I know that their temps, part time and contractors have been getting cut for over a year.

  6. Google doesn't need to ccut back on any perks or employee benefits for googleplex workers. They make so much money and have so much growth.

  7. LOL. They already cut back on the daycare and free food. I run an adwords campaign and the bids on popular keywords have plummeted. Look for a bad quarter.

Sweet. GOOG is the posterchild of 2000's excess. It will be good to see GOOG get dealt with accordingly.
