makes for an interesting insight into how scalable a trading style actually is. i use leverage on my equity account of about 4-5 times, using most futures and forex gives you leverage of about 20 times. If you are using a trading style / method / strategy that is consistently profitable with great returns eg; +30%, with small drawdowns and one that is scalable, why are there not more george soros etc; around. Hell if i could make 1000% i'd borrow as much as i can, do a few trades and then retire. Percentage returns dont really apply to most scalpers and day traders, unless you are really looking to scale up and make serious actual cash returns. then you have to to work out if you can, and thats when percentages really matter.
