  2. Whether it's live trading, or simulated trading, if you don't know what your results are likely to be then the less success you might have.

The question is more about "profit factor on what?" than it is about overall profit factor. Without the definition, there can be no definitive answer and I would rather optimize on hypotheticals than the careless "what if I had" model that you're suggesting.

  3. Very doubtful, with your history.

  4. My career numbers far exceed both.

  5. Option derviative and excess profitability of those explain the "outperformance", without the need to account for normal experiences or profitability of vendors. The average isn't any different if you include the success of one particular vendor, which I don't doubt, but the affinity of people to subscribe to such strategies is more in question than the results I know you've had.

Speak to the general population first, then, if they present a counterargument, you're welcome to present your own. I guess I'm saying your results are not at all typical, atticus, so try to speak to more generalized results than the ones you yourself have had.

(I know your results are spectacular, but other peoples' aren't, so please don't assume I would ever include you in this generalization because it doesn't include you, atticus).

  6. Haven't had a single losing day yet this year

  7. Just this year, is only a month and less than a half or so, so this is possible, but I doubt you'll report the first day you have that is losing.

Atticus had a 1,300+% profit in two years, and that is more likely to continue than any anonymous poster claiming to have no losing days in 2012 thus far.

I am usually never on this website, but I was registered here for some time.

The real poll should be something like this considering trading over large number of instruments over a long period of time:

    less than one: 80%
    1.0-1.1: 15%
    1.0-1.3: 3%
    1.3-1.5: 2%
    1.5+: 1%
    2.0+: 0.1%

My forex profit factor is 1.16, futures somewhere above 2 (I don't have the possibility to calculate it, but it should be above 2), but I have not traded futures long enough to consider it valid.

  10. Profit? I thought trading was a tax loss harvesting strategy or money laundering front. :)
