What's with the ammo and reloading supply shortage?

This is outright crazy... Why is virtually all ammo sold out anywhere in North America, Canada included? I can't even find reloading consumables like brass, powder, bullets, and primers virtually anywhere. If there is a small supply prices are completely through the roof. I look for 6.5 creedmoor and 45-70 govt primarily.

Why this lack of supply? Stockpiling? Covid supply chain issues? What is going on?

Oh, that might just be the Canadian moose and maple trees seeing what was going on in the USA, and recalling "YES we can!", and planning a rebellion of their own after being poked for their blood, and their meat, for generations.

 

Probably. Most ammo comes from the US anyway. Firearms not so much, perhaps 1/2. The other half are European manufacturers.

 

Demand is outstripping supply. Mooses!
