I don't do algorithmic decisions .. I do all my trades manually using my intuition and instincts and low latency is not a requirement.. maybe it will be once I implement hedging but I think there are certain order types to make the flow back and forth easier for that
Don't be silly. My point is that if RAM is such a big issue, why is NT only offering 16 gigs for their top-tiered server? I've also checked out other VPS colo servers located in Chicago and most of them are fairly comparable to NT with 16 gigs on average.
how often do I have to repeat this? NT is NOT a good platform for algo trading at all. Buggy, slow and not precise. Install the same NT version on two different machines and feed it identical data. You will get two different results
I used to run my Linux VPS with 1gig of RAM and it did the job fine. I've since upgraded to 4gigs, I can never fill this up for algo trading alone. Running browsers and other stuff as well, all for data. Note that I'm using IB API with python, no GUI generally, CLI only. It would be impossible to run Windows alone with 4gigs of RAM, never mind anything else. Do you have to use the NT VPS, it's extremely expensive. Might want to check out Hetzner or even DigitalOcean. And the connection doesn't matter since all the connection of instances are the same.
Are you doing HFT? Because if not, the latency for VPS from say NY or MD to Chicago is insignificant.
Hello, 8gb RAM should be plenty for running two strats in NinjaTrader, even if they are computationally intensive. Send us an email to support@ninjamobiletrader.com and I can help you out with a free trial so that you can confirm everything works well. Make sure to mention that I offered the free trial in this thread. Same offer available for everyone!
I can“t see the original post because I ignored this wanker, but just looking at the question... don't do algo trading if you are asking these questions.
