I remember reading about a few people who had figured out how to improve their odds on scratch offs, and did pretty well for awhile. I think they were watching to see whether the big prize tickets had been redeemed and if the tickets were near the time they would be done in the market they would go around buying quite a few tickets until they hit the remaining big prize. I would say still a crap shoot as it sounded like they were spending quite a bit in hopes they would get it before someone randomly bought the bigger prize tickets.
Ha, I don't really have that kind of time to make such calculations about the lottery or the scratch offs. I just buy one lottery ticket, if it works it works, if it doesn't, oh well.
If you like lotto stories... here's a good one. Years back the Colorado lotto got up to $18 Mil. The winning numbers were picked by 10 players!... $1.8 Mil each. Turns out, the winning numbers were the 4 corner numbers of the Quick Pick + 2 in the middle... and 10 people had 'em. Musta been a drag checking your numbers and thinking you'd won $18 Mil...
