What's the difference in thinking between a republican and democrat?

  1. I'm not as interested in advancing them as protecting them. It is the left which is shouting down all opposing ideas and speech. If is the left, and yes the right as well, which is invading my privacy via technology. You'll never convince me that the left really gives two shits about the military. The right does give more phony lip service than not, but I can expect more from them than the left. And it is the left which blames me, the white guy, for everything up to and including a rainy day. It is the left which will not hold anyone to account, other than the white guy. It is the left that tells me, the white guy, that I owe someone something simply because I'm white and the other someone isn't. It is the left which try's to lay some guilt on me for the sins of people of which I never knew, had nothing to do with, and had no participation in. There's plenty more, but that some basic stuff

  2. I answered this in the other thread and it got ignored. This is it in a nutshell. With wisecracks added for fun.

Here are the main ones, let me know if I forgot any:

    Gun control or lack thereof.

Freedom from religious delusions in govt affairs, I mean freedom of religion and being able to believe any old crazy shit.

Man made global warming/science/environment/quality of life and health.

The poor and disadvantaged. Like that guy Jesus talked about.

Abortion rights vs rights of the unborn. This is a tough one.

    Govt good vs govt bad.

Dept of Offense, I mean war, military industrial complex/military readiness - to invade other smaller countries at will.

    Nationalism vs Globalism

Social welfare/safety net vs "tough luck , you are on your own, hop along on that one good leg" - see Jesus, above.

    Capitalism vs Socialism.

Wealth distribution vs those with the most wins. See Jesus, above.

Plutocracy vs Democracy, see "money in politics"

Tribalism vs pan-racism. See Jesus, above.

  3. Great society is all about good govt.

Our govt today is bought and paid for

by big chip holders, not the populace.

  4. Not enough there to pay for it all. I'm all for people paying their fair share, closing loopholes, and seeing corporate America pick up more than they currently do. Still doesn't cover everything for free for everyone.

Jesus said..."You ain't from around here, so fuck off."

No one wants to pay more in taxes. But if paying more in taxes gives you a better safety net then perhaps it's worth it. Right now, paying more in taxes doesn't give you a better safety net. As an employer, I believe that if the government had a universal healthcare system and raised the wealthiest's taxes for it, my (as a .1%er) income would actually go up and my employees would get better health coverage.

However, while conservatives might be all about lower taxes and liberals are stereotypically about higher taxes, conservatives are no longer about lower spending....
