What's the diff btwn: SPX and INX?

    The titles from my quote vendor say:

    SPX - S&P 500 Index (CBOE)
    INX - S&P Cash Index

    That's fine but I really don't know what the difference is if there is one.

    I have access to both and want to use one of them in a calculation. Wondered whether it mattered to use one vs. the other. They generally seem to be the same value most of the time but sometimes there are small differences.
