What's the best way to clone a hard drive?

  1. Catoosa,

I have 2 hard drives, one CD/R and one DVD drive.

I'm trying to use DriveImage 7.0 "copy drive" feature to upgrade my laptop drive to one with higher storage capacity. I can't get it to work.

After copying my C: drive to my new D: drive, which I've temporarily installed in a "drive caddy" in the laptop modular bay, I shut down my computer and place the cloned drive in the C: bay. On boot-up with the cloned drive, XP tries to start, but I get into an endless loop of two alternating error messages: "...no paging file, or paging file is too small..." and WPA dialog, "...error code 0x009006." Clicking OK on one message brings on the other, ad infinitum.

Has anyone been successful in cloning a bootable XP drive using DriveImage? Is there a switch setting available that's comparable to the one mentioned in another posting for Ghost?
