Wife's practice has been providing indigent care long before Odumbocare. In fact, about 2/3 of her practice is to indigent or those covered by Medicare/Medicade. The problem with that is she and staff have to provide full service at their expense.. and then hope to be reimbursed. Fact is, her collection rate for billed services runs about $.26-$.30/Dollar... not much more than to cover their hard costs. Throw in Odumbocare and get even MORE "non/low payers"... and soon it's costing them out of pocket to provide care... and they can't stay in business for long doing that.
