Blackberry maker dealt another blow Jeff Clabaugh Staff Reporter A small local company continues to be a big headache for Blackberry maker Research In Motion, and the latest court ruling could choke off its U.S. sales. Research in Motion, whose proposed $450 million out of court settlement with Arlington-based NTP unraveled this year, had sought to challenge a patent infringement ruling. A U.S. appeals court denied the company's request for a rehearing, sending the case back to a trial judge in Richmond, who could order the company to stop selling its popular Blackberry devices in the United States. The Nasdaq halted trading in Research in Motion (NASDAQ: RIMM) shortly after the ruling was announced Friday. NTP was formed by inventor Thomas Campana to serve as a licensing company for his various patents. Campana died of cancer last year. Research in Motion, based in Ontario, Canada, gets about 70 percent of its sales from the United States. The company has about 3 million U.S. subscribers. http://washington.bizjournals.com/washington/stories/2005/10/03/daily45.html?jst=b_ln_hl
I love how the shorts are whining on the yahoo board that RIMM didn't go down enough, and they're saying the MM's are conspiring to hold it up.
