You're thinking this through far too carefully. You do realize, of course, that this is the Politics forum, right?
The other side of suck it up and hunker down is to suck it up, stand up and fight knowing there will be casualties. Right now we're pinned down trying to assess the situation and taking casualties in the process. There does come a point that if you let the enemy dictate your every move your forces are so weakened that you cannot mount an effective assault anymore. That's a catastrophe. When we arrive at that point is the 64 dollar question and several million lives are on the line. Time is not on our side. Tough decisions to be made for sure
You realize, of course, that this is a virus we're talking about, right? An enemy against which not even Trump can obfuscate or dictate terms to. One that is about 3 times more contagious and several times more deadly than a flu, apparently presenting its hosts with all kinds of different symptoms that have not even been considered before, and quite different than those normally associated with a "flu-like" virus. This is just now coming to light. Beginning to understand the adversary is hardly the time to be taking a victory lap like Georgia is about to do tomorrow.
Enemy none the less and at some point we must decide what is an acceptable loss of life and move on. Real victory over this is only achieved through herd immunity and that means taking some casualties along the way. There will be a spike in rate of infection and deaths whenever we roll out of our restrictions, that's a given. At some point we must move forward, cautiously for sure, but moving none the less. I wish the state of Georgia success, but admittedly would not to be the first lab rat to schedule a hair cut, massage and then go bowl a few frames.
So, you mean like “death panels?” Remember those? Remember when Obama’s haters were outraged by their own fabricated and ridiculous claims of such atrocities that they expected to be perpetrated by the Obama administration? Is that what YOU are now proposing?
Yes, and I never had a problem with said death panels and wrote as much. Someone has to make the tough decisions or we all go down with the ship. I ain't saying it's pretty, just necessary
