whats going on in FL ?

    here on the beach...a car was taken from 2 blocks away and landed on another car.....we had a bunch of tornado's here...
    thats what may have done some of the damage

    def could not have been a Cat 1
    i live in a high rise and you could feel the building swaying from side to side

    im def gettin the hell out of dodge on the next one

  2. Yes, it's a great case of preparing for the worst. All of the following conditions existed for days:

    1. Essentially no city power (Milky Way bright & white for 2 days)
    2. Bellsouth land lines down
    3. All cellphone carriers down
    4. Traffic lights out and roads blocked or dangerous
    5. 7pm Curfews

    Plenty of people lost everything after roof flew and rain gutted the interior.

    Have a good disaster plan and perform regular remote backups.

    Once the landlines returned, I used a car-battery inverter to provide 1500 W power. With the car off, it ran my computer and peripherals for about 50min before requiring re-charging (running the car for 5min). The inverter was $170 at home depot, probably cheaper if you look around. It's a good backup for any power outage and cheaper than a generator. Don't forget that the gas to run the damn generator can easily run $30/day, if you can get any!
