He's so desperate to make his defeatist points that he'll insult the mentally challenged persons, What a disgrace. I have stopped reading or paying attention to their posts so should you.
    Thanks.

  2. I'm learning a lot from this conversation so first and foremost thanks all.

Why would an ETF structure be more complex? What would be needed to create one?

Don't want to sidetrack the conversation so feel free to nudge me to create a new thread for it.

You need license and GP seed money, more than friends and families plan.

  4. Does the 15-18k also include fund admin?

  5. Yes but, where does the complexity lie?

Does that mean the above-mentioned funds would not need neither of them? I would guess yes, no?

Raising seed money is complicated without track records. Your etf needs to solve clients or markets problems. Whereas hedge fund can be setup without any conditions (maybe state regulations apply), and just make money for yourself.

  7. What's an acceptable minimum length of track record? 5 years? 10 years?

WRT the hedge funds, would it not be easier to just go it alone?

I guess the moment one has one or more partners, that's where it would make sense to go down that route right?

Is everyone still go one with this one, the seed can be as little as 3mths but it has to be done in a very specific way using a pre-existing methodology (which has tracked returns) for third party investors, you cannot use your methodology which would then be 3/5/10 years with setup costing $20k to $50k, in between is IB F&F and copy trading, neither of which gain much traction externally, an ETF costs around $2.5million, it's just that simple but apparently it has taken 5pages of comments so far.

There is an entire due diligence process that has to be performed before anything can be confirmed on a fund launch, because I have had to work through that process helping launch a fund, it's time consuming, people always want to cut corners, they're cheap, and when they don't get what they want their eyes start rolling in their heads, and that's just the fund owner.

  10. What's an example of GOOD due diligence in your view?
