ROFLMAO, mine has gotten even slower and people ask me why I use T-1, use that for automation. 54ms ping test at 9:45pm 9.34 download speed 5.98 upload speed Spectrum cable for house internet, been told I am 2nd to last on some cable. And the cable have not changed since they built this area from 1979. It is fine for long term, but certainly not for scalping. What do you all get?
OK, but that is unrelated to the OP I guess. OP has to ping and run a stability test from his machine all the way into IB's trading server.
I learned a long time ago that it is very important to have computer that is dedicated to trading and trading only nothing else. You cannot be surfing the internet, gaming and trading on the same computer because you will be inviting all sorts of hardware and software problems. For example, my trading computer has on it, the Operating System, Microsoft Word, Charting Software and my broker trading software and nothing else. When I am not trading, it is off. Then, I have a second computer for every day use.
Update all drivers and BIOS on your PC, make sure windows auto updates, update java, try tws latest instead of stable, make sure your router firmware is up to date, try using your smartphone with mobile hotspot turned on and a wifi adapter on your PC.
Anyone have the IP address for the IB USA server so that I can do a ping test ? I am in a pretty remote mountain town so it is possible that that is causing my issues. My download speed is 15mb and upload is about 0.4 mb. My orders do go through instantly though.
