I remember reading a number of years ago there was talk of the CBOE adding daily expiration options, but I haven't heard much of anything since. Any idea whatever happened with the concept? FWIW here's a Bloomberg article on it from 5 years ago. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...to-list-options-that-expire-within-single-day
Operational problems. OCC systems are not designed to support contracts that both list and expire on the same day. Request was pulled.
And I take it that there is no expectation of such a thing being attempted again anytime in the relatively near future?
I am not sure. You can trade a number of weekly futures contracts that happen to expire every business day with T+1 settlement. But they are not options.
I have heard that Daily options are again being actively discussed at the CBOE. I will try and get some more information.
