Not sure what do you meant by holy grail. For me, it's uncorrelated trading systems run together (portfolio) for smoother total equity curve (less max drawdown and drawdown period).
Ken Long had a great idea to measure a trading method: SQN number (System quality number) It went from 1 to 5 and everything above 4 was somewhat a holy grail system. Great tool to measure.
What you call "the Holy Grail" is better known as Curve Fitting. The sooner you accept that, better off will be your sanity, if not your actual bottomline.
I would keep it. Whenever I need money, I will get the market pay for it. In the end, I will own the market. Alas, such thing never exist.
Good Morning oshjdf, Question please What is your total captial investment cost for uncorrelated trading systems running together (portfolio)? Thank you.
When you discover Holy Grails, never ever discuss. Never discuss risk, reward, indicators or chart patterns or are they easy to backtest. To me, they are extreme low drawdowns whether intraday for day trading or quarterly for long term.
The holy grail is your reaction time. As a single retail daytrader speed is really your only advantage. I'm running two system today with different trype of entry signal. One of them fails really bad so I'm not sure if I'm gonna sure but the other one works a majority of the time. What made it words is that I'm very quick to get out if it's goes bad and know how to hold still if it goes good. The first system fails so bad so I'm not sure if I'll use it again because good signals are rare and I get confused what good or bad. 2nd system there's many signals to take so I can pick and choose but I'm always ready to get out quick if it goes bad so that's what saves me from major losses. The rules of the system is already common knowledge. The edge is in knowing how to use it and having a strong reaction time. I get out quick if wrong. If I'm don't those are the time have the biggest losses This is like basketball where everyone already knows the rules but not everyone can play it professionally in the nba.
