What will Obama "Change"? What particular "Hope" does he offer?

  1. Well the debt was massively lower under Carter, and inflation and unemployment were "fixed" under Reagan by "redefining" them. (The price index doesn't include energy and housing now, for example, two of the biggest sources of inflation.)

If you recalculate the misery index under Bush using the same methodology as Carter, it's significantly worse now.

Collapse? Really? You're on an investment/trading board and you say that?

You're really overboard with this. Cherry picking one quarter (using the annualized number, in other words, the real number times four) and the rest of your paragraph is actually laughable. The ME is more democratic? Because Iraq has a government cowering behind our troops in a Green zone at the cost of $12 billion a month?

The economy was much smaller then, and the cold war was in full swing, a lot more (MAD-like) dangerous times...

...how much do two terrible dictatorships destroyed and two nations freed, with a very good chance of finally turning democratic, right in the heart of one of the most critical areas of the globe, go for these days? :)

    IMAO: Let's Be Honest

We like to dismiss everything the left says, but if you really are honest about it, don't they maybe have a point about how Sarah Palin and Barack Obama may be unqualified to be Vice President?

    :) :) :)

Washington should have asked the Iraqi people that mattered IF they wanted Western style democracy in Iraq. With a firm NO, then they would have saved the US 3 trillion dollars. Instead they tried to put the sheep in charge of the wolves and who can only hold it togethor if the US is there. Not a very good try by an incompetent clown.
The Sunnis were in charge for the last 1000+ years. OK they were a minority BUT quite a revolution to suddenly put the Shias on top. As soon as the US goes, it will probably try to revert back to the former arrangement causing a bloody civil war - more needless deaths
