What will Obama "Change"? What particular "Hope" does he offer?

  1. Fair enough. But the reality is that taxes (if not Federal, then state) are going to go up to pay for the massive, massive increase in federal debt.

Even if McCain "reduces" taxes the costs will only shift to the states, where taxes will increase. Why? Because his plan spends more money than Obama's plan.

I agree, these white legacy admissions have got to stop.

  3. 100% due to Newt and his contract with America crowd. Not only was a balanced budget their PLATFORM, but they so thoroughly took over congress that Clinton had no choice but to adopt the same. He never said anything about this until they swept into office (which is why it was their platform). Clinton had the tech boom going for him also (dramatically increased the GDP). Talk about timing!

BTW, only Congress actually spends money. Praise or blame congress.

I fear that it doesn't matter who is in office now. SPEND SPEND SPEND. Until we are so bankrupt, that we will be forced to change.

  4. Not quite -- the tech boom came in his second term, and that doesn't explain how he reduced spending in his first term.

There's no question that the Republicans helped push the balanced budget issue, but when push came to shove and Clinton shut down the government when the Republicans blocked his budget, it was the Clinton budget that passed.

No. The Office of Management and Budget is part of the White House and prepares the proposed budget. Yes it is passed by congress, but the budget is designed by the White House.

Well that's what the Republicans said about Clinton, and they were wrong.

Also your theories don't explain how, if the Republicans were primarily responsible, they were unable to balance the budget when they had control of the house, the senate, the presidency, the Supreme Court, three KFC's, and the White House greenskeeper why they couldn't balance the budget -- or even come close.

  5. His son Beau "is a captain in the Delaware Army National Guard's Judge Advocate General's Corps" and is being deployed to Iraq in October.

So you're wrong, or lying. Obviously you don't give a shit about the truth or the troops.

Thank God you're here. At least that's one sane Canadian I know who frequents ET. You may be the only one!

Isn't it obvious? The World moves when America does.

I take it you're an Obama fan?
