Apple II+ 48K w/3 Floppy Drives and an Microsoft CP/M card Great computer at the time (pre-IBM clone, pre-Mac). Reason for three floppies you ask? Drive #1 for source (6502 .ASM) files Drive #2 for header files (since they wouldn't all fit on Drive #1) Drive #3 for object code and executable No hard drives were available at the time (or if there were they cost more than your house). Hard drives are for mama's boys. Still can't believe I actually developed on that thing
Win95 would not fit on a 10 MB drive. My first computer was a 486 DX2-66 w/ 8 MB of ram. I use it to run my HFT algorithms on a direct dial-up connection to the exchange.
Dude thats way back... 1976 - Processor Technology Sol-20 - an intel 8080, s-100 buss system with 8kb memory... Cordially, -DD- "Good math and small teams win." -Alan Kay-
The first one I used was in the 70's in 6th grade. Commodre 64 I believe. I'll never forget my Stepdad buying a Mac in 86-87 with the little porthole window for $1200. State of the art at the time.
Your memory must be better than mine. All I remember is that it was a Compaq Presario with Win95 on it and I bought it from Computer City. Had a 17" monitor and cost about 2k. If it wasn't a 10mb drive, then what do you think it was? Maybe 12? I know it was really small. Came with a 14k modem!
Microsoft recommended a 120MB drive at a minimum when W95 was launched. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_95
Must of been either a 10GB or 12GB hard drive then. I think I remember my 2nd computer had a 40GB drive.
