My friends got the Commodore 64 and I remember they had all the cool games (Karateka, Defender of the Crown come to mind)
Texas Instruments TI-99/4A I played Space Invaders on it, and wrote one BASIC computer program on it.
Now after all these years I find out that Al Gore really did (help) create the internet! Oh no, this is bad. So bad. We are all doomed! Man-bear-pig lives!
My first computer was a compaq presario 5030 my freshman year in college. It was just in time for the explosion of Napster et al. Before that I had numerous other computers, TI-88 (which I wrote a few programs for), word processor, nintendo, stop watch, etc.
I wanted an Apple-1 based upon a recommendation from a friend saw one in a computer-store. I went down there and they were all gone! So I put down my money as a deposit on the next available unit. I checked back every week for over a year and nothing! They finally rolled it forwards into a purchase of an Apple ][. I don't think I've ever been as excited about anything for as long as that cute little thing. Although working on the VAX-11 at NASA was close, but not quite.
