I would say forget getting something related to trading. Its a grind as it is, I would suggest getting something totally unrelated. Balance in life is more important, especially during the holidays he may want to get his mind off trading for at least a day. my .02

Noise cancelling headphones and some "sounds of nature" CDs. These will let him block out the interruptions and annoyances of the office and focus on his trading.
