are you making 10 mil+/year in equities? If not, then you may want to continue to expand in the asset class that you are currently more familiar with. It maybe easier to add 100K in pnl on the equities side, then to make 1K in a asset class you don't trade frequently.
Are there not enough ES or Forex traders in this room ? I have stated I like to add new skillsets in addition to trading equities. Active or professional ES,YM,NQ...etc future and FOREX traders, I seek you opinion in which should be my next project - FX or Futures. Ideally I will master both but that will take some time. Thank you in advance and thanks to those you already provided input.
Folks, dont waste your time with the yutube above. I wasted mine. Please give me relevant input if you are active/professional ES,YM,F/X trader. Thank you. Randy.
So far I have gotten very little input re: Forex vs Index Future trading. Thanks to those who replied. I am still seeking your input, please give detail argument why one is better than the other, or more suitable for someone coming from equity trading to adopt.
Are we talking intra-day or long term trading? The reason to trade futures and fx is that these markets limit liquidity and default risk. Stocks can go to zero. I'm not sure why anybody would want to day trade ES or FX. 4H charts provide more than enough opportunity.
Let me get this straight.....you have plenty of experience trading equities( I assume you made money then?), but you want to be skilled in other markets now? Go to any Wall St firm and see what all those traders trade, day in and day out. You have equity traders, bond traders, currrency traders, etc. Meaning they are SPECIALISTS in one area of the market and they stay focused in that area! In laymens terms, you want to increase your skill level in the area that you are already familiar with. So with that in mind, why dont you look at staying in equities and/or learn pairs trading? I know a few day traders who only do pairs and are very successful at it, and make excellent money. I myself trade ES because I became specialized at it, now trade fulltime and still refining my craft to this day. Why would I want to cloud my brain with other principles of the market that would take me months if not yrs to learn and master? In summary: Stay focused in the area that you are familiar with(in ur case..EQUITIES) and become better at it. Good luck......
Thanks for new replies. NakedShort: my current style is day trade stocks, not swing or long term. It is rare I hold any position over an hour. And I always go flat overnight even if I have to take a loss. Right now I am leaning toward ES because there's international situations that can blind side you in F/X. Same but to a lesser extent in the US equity market. Dont agree with me because thats what I said. Feel free you give you your argument. ~TIA
