What the hell is wrong with the French?

  1. OK, so the ratios are about comparable.

As to the weather, the climate in Southern France is vastly different than in Northern France although during the summer time it might be hard to tell the difference, but that's true about the US as well when humidity is not taken into account.

  2. No dungrider it's guys like you that I'm sick of. Crude is drilled out of the subterranean desert in Arabia with expensive equipment, transported by tanker to a refinery in someplace like New Jersey and then after being cracked into your preferred grade of unleaded it's transported to a service station near you. And the cost of a gallon is less than a 16oz Coke at McDonalds. Compare on a price per ounce the price of gasoline to most any other liquid (including bottled water) and gasoline is pretty darn cheap.

  3. Fallacies, geez. France is not a socialist nation. France is one of the oldest capitalist imperial powers. You are confusing having a social safety net (health care retirement etc) with socialism. The US has raw capitalism in comparison to Europe. Much more poverty and way more folks in prison. Plus we are going broke way faster than France- thank you Bush.

Wait a minute, how is a system of government whose sole purpose is to distribute wealth evenly among its citizens not socialism?

Here is the definition from the dictionary:

any of various economic and political theories advocating collective or governmental ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods.

France is a government controlled state. I believe that 70% of its citizens are directly employed by the French government. The state runs and controls everything.

  7. and what does that have to do with anything??

compared to blood at a blood bank, where you presumably supplement your salary, just about any liquid/beverage/etc is cheap..

PS - bush is a retard. plain and simple. nothing anyone can do will ever change that.

  8. Talk about the pot and the kettle, LOL! :D

Einstein, I have nothing to say about the 10k people in France, nor do I think or say that our retarded president has anything to do with them.

i never blamed him for it, you did. your claim to cheap energy obviously has little to do with the bush family, and you must be a complete retard to suppose that the bush clan or his cabinet full of iran contra indictees and oilmen ever had any intent of keeping the price of oil down.

    this thread is pointless...bye!!

  9. The point being gasoline has been and still is too cheap! Liberals like to have it both ways. If energy prices soar, it's because the Administration is sympathetic to a cartel of providers. If prices dip it's because the administration refuses to "get tough" and ration our dependency on "environmentally insensitive" sources of fuel and electricity. Unlike Europe, the U.S. is a free market, with prices pegged to supply/demand. Clearly as Global standards of living rise, the perma cheapness of gasoline may be history.

BTW: Clinton was Prez during Chicago's heat wave in 1995.
