Hi, I'm new to the forum and wanted some insight into my situation. I come from a science background in that I have a B.S. in Biochemistry from Texas Tech University. I pursued medical school for a year and decided that a career in medicine was not my passion. I am highly interested in the stock market/wall street and particularly securities trading. I would love to work for a large firm in their securities/sales & trading department. However, I know since I am not coming from a top tier school it will be difficult for me to get an entry level position. Would you recommend trying to get a position at one of the more established prop firms to gain some experience and then tackle some of the larger firms/hedge funds. Thanks!

I am more interested in trading/analysis and am not really interested in placing trades or being a financial adviser.
