I check my internet speed test here http://www.ip-details.com/ Download speed is 1.90kbps Upload speed is 0.70kbps.....
Was there a typo here? 1.90 kbps, this is a very slow modem speed. About 2000 times slower than a DSL.
retail (time warner cable wide-band DOCSIS 3.0 (beta)) 50/50 burst line (usually does 35-45 mbps up/down sustained) $99/month xo communications 10meg symmetrical line (point to point for order entry & data) $210/month Clear 4G wireless (sprint 4G) free "promotional/industry expert" 6-month trial, usually does around 54mbps up/down wired, about 30mbps up/down over wifi/hotspot & does 3G speeds in the car/train, etc. around 5-10mbps up/down The two lines are shared at the router, third line is dedicated for trading only.
What does the Clear service normally cost? I need something I can use at different locations. It would be nice to have a backup to cable also.
Clear is Sprint - so clear/sprint 4G should be comperable. http://www.clearwirelessinternet.com/ have to enter your zip code.
Time Warner Cable RR on 300mbps wireless connected laptop 17.94 mbps down 1.76 mbps up http://www.speedtest.net/
Here's my speed test on my 100Mbps connection that I get for about $40 here. And this price will be coming down by 25% shortly. So this is what you can look forward to when the U.S. catches up with the times in this area.
Internet speed is VERY relative. It depends on time of day, browser, Operating system (on older computers Linux is 20-30% faster than XP),wired/wireless, etc. If I pick a server 1700 miles away it drops to 8 Mb/s. If you really need to scalp and such, check it to a distance where your broker is.... As long as you are statisfied with the speed and your execution time is fast enough for you, the speed is what it is...
11.96 MBsDOWN and 1.5MBs UP Thats from Houston to Chicago. Not bad for my cable modem. It's 2 tin cans and a string between my house and my Brokers office.
