Yeah nice dodge to you too. Who said that any group I (or you) oppose has no moral standing? I didn't. I was talking about white supremacist neo-Nazi racists having no moral standing, no moral equivalency to those who stand against them. Shouting out 'free speech' doesn't give them one. Blaming "lefty" violence doesn't give them one. Twisting both logic and my argument and putting words in my mouth won't give them one either. You have to ask yourself, would you be making a bunch of whatabout excuses for evil in the form of ISIS should they show up waving black flags and the Koran at a Confederate statue instead of the swastika flags and tiki torches there? When violence had flared up would the first thing you say, as President about the situation be, "there are two sides to the story". The instinct to overwhelmingly denounce Islamic radical group for even being there as a group at any demonstration should be the message. Calling it by its name. Evil. The instinct to overwhelmingly denounce white supremacist for even being there as a group at any demonstration should be the message. Calling it by its name. Evil. This President's instinct is clearly not to call out the bigotry hatred and racism white supremacists exist for but is to divert attention onto those opposing , suggesting equivalence and tacit approval to alt-right hate tactics. Worried about his base any? Fhl doesn't count having clearly fallen out of his tree, yet you and AAA who perhaps should but obviously don't know better, do not or seemingly cannot unequivocally call white supremacy by its name. Evil. Something Trump didn't or couldn't do either but the vast majority of Republicans can and do not allow moral ambiguity to creep between white supremacists hate and all those who oppose them. Oh and btw like many, as Trump feels the backlash, rewrites what he said about Charlottesville and rehashes his position, I also recognize him as the crude, divisive, unstatesmanlike, bloated abject congenital liar and narcissist that he is, and the Groper in Chief President who is quite possibly crazy. It doesn't make me a lefty liberal to agree. Plenty republicans recognize him as the same and worse you know. Unlike Trump most people generally understand why there can be no moral ambiguity here despite political views. And why, where white supremacists are concerned, there is no "both sides".
Sometimes, a norm from any old era has to be changed, constantly. " Ever-Changing " http://nikhelbig.com/art-blog/2005/10/03/famous-nude-paintings/ Who were the marriage partners outside the family members of Adam and Eve's children? Should any fervent believers of the holy book quote them as valid example to follow through nowadays by allowing marriage among their own children ? Edit: BTW, if Hitler wanted to kill a whole race, do the modern-day followers of Hitler also want to kill a whole race? Then one race after another? When to stop? Finally, there would be something like the higher-IQ ones to kill the lower-IQ ones within the same race? Who then would be the only one left on earth? LOL
So a guy named Robert Lee is now offensive to the leftist mob? A guy of Chinese decent no less. Can there be any doubt we have passed the event horizon? Past the point of no return? Guess I have to state it again. You just cannot expect things to turn out well when this type of abject stupidity permeates all levels of the social strata.
Stu, you are a smart guy and I enjoy your point of view at times. We are talking past one another here, which is hardly surprising since the entire country seems to have gone mad. My point is simple and does not require any deep examination of the morality of either side. We do not have a country in which it is acceptable to attack other people physically for their political viewpoints. The left, the media and the democrat party now seem to be moving rapidly away from this principle. That concerns many people, and is far more significant than the views of a small crowd of misfits, many of whom were obviously paid provocateurs or FBI plants. I refuse to be drawn into the game of saying one side is morally superior to the other in terms of their views. There are many viewpoints represented on both sides, from people who were upset about Confederate statues being removed as part of a wave of marxist cultural cleansing to delusional neo-nazis, on one side, and well-intentioned granola libs to vicious Marxist anarchists on the other.
Wonder what the State of TN is gonna do about this. Lets see what Corker says. This guy was considered "the devil himself" even by his fellow Confederate generals. Brilliant Calvary General. His tactics are still studied today at West Point. He is notorious for allegedly murdering a a bunch of surrendering black Union soldiers at Fort Pillow (somewhere near Memphis) but many historians differ on that. After the war, he founded the Klan. The networks are gonna have to stop running Forrest Gump I suppose as he was named after this guy. Tom Hanks needs to make a public apology. All that being said... its a beautiful place if you've never been there.
I know you don't care, but I want you to know that I consider it refreshingly honest of you to admit when your "team" is completely off the wall. It's a rarity for you to admit it, but it is still nice to see.
