2. I've got a great idea. Stock and day or hedgefundtrader as he now likes to be called should get together and have their own thread. They can spout all the reasons to be bullish in a bear mkt. Those of us who are realists will not post on their thread at all. I personally will read it, its hard to look away when a train wreck is occuring right in front of you. Come on you two, lets make this happen.

  4. I like Frank Grimes' idea! We need a daily thread featuring Stocktrad3r and Hedge, with their invaluable market commentary and advice.

We could all rake in a fortune by taking advantage of their collective wisdom!

If we had all been taking their advice over the past few months alone, uh, oh well, maybe not....

Or better yet, how about a push to get these guys their own show on Cnbc. It can't be any worse than fast/mad Money. Maybe they can break in as yes-men for Kudlow.

    Lets get this going!

BTW here's a link to the Frontline show called "The Crash" circa 1999 about the Thailand meltdown/LTCM debacle. Including this timeline.

Frontline has some great shows. Used to be able to watch the whole show online, but maybe this is too old.

It's interesting how the funds needed to work with these situations has changed over the years as this quote shows.
    "Sept. 23, 1998
Pushed by the New York Federal Reserve, a consortium of leading US financial institutions provides a $3.5 billion bailout to Long Term Capital Management, one of the largest US hedge funds, amidst fears that a collapse could worsen the panic in the financial markets."

  6. wonder whether the dollar will have any reserve value by that time...

seems more than just the middle class and poor have paid for these tax cuts for the wealthy theme....

this overly simplistic view of the US state of affairs, and the economy has produced just what we have....

  7. from an investing standpoint i just want to sell all my personal holdings, but know that is the wrong idea. this is when you should be buying. When u see something like this, it really shows how this time 2008 is a repeat of every other crisis the market has had. even though this time feels diffrent or you hear about financial armageddon, its just another slump to work our way through

  8. What if a brick hit you in the head two years ago, and you woke up this morning. And I brought you in to my trading womb, no news, no TV, no media, and I said, 'let's look at some charts." What would you think? What conclusions would you draw? What would you do?

Nothing might not be a bad idea. And if you saw UBS or Bear crater like it did Friday, you'd have plenty of time to jump on and make some skin.

So what would be your take looking at charts only? I'm gonna surf some porn, which for me these days is nostalgia. I'll check back.

Now goddamn, it, that 's a joke. When I run for President, I dont' want you digging this up and saying, "see, he was a porn addict." But probably, by the time I run, my opponent will have been in porn.

And speaking of porn, somebody showed me "Big Sausage Pizza" or some such bullshit. You young guys kill me, because I make a good Pizza Marga, Marghari, Marger, the one with the tomatoes and cheese, and I can think of hell of a lot more erotic things than sticking my meat missle in bubbling mozzarella. Somebody has to explain that to me sometime.

    Now, back to the charts.
